A Tour & {Inspiration} Challenge

in Morocco

Nestled deep in the medina there is a secret place I like to think of as heaven on earth.  Like the elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, it is hard to find but if you are lucky enough to have a friend lead you to it you will discover many treasures…

Men sit at their sewing machines, hemming and stitching their way through countless frashe covers, jilabas, and caftans.  The soft whirring of sewing machines fills the air while the eyes take in all the trims, buttons, sequins…

It is a feast for the eyes, but watch where you are going because string is being stretched for twenty feet… (Can you believe my 4 year old caught this moment so perfectly?)

I go to the same shop owner every time I visit the Medina.  He knows me now and lets me come behind the counter and choose buttons from their boxes and ribbons from their spools.  While others look on with curiosity at the little American going though his stash, I plod along like a kid in a candy store and buy up many treasures!

I have a fun challenge for my papercrafting friends, but whether you are a papercrafter or not you can go here for another chance to win!

I don’t know about you all, but I have missed our Traveler’s Inspiration Challenges and today’s is a BIGGIE because I have two very big prizes to give away.  So what is the challenge?  Create a paper creation, whether it’s a card, a scrapbook, page or another fun paper project using the photos above as your inspiration.  You get to choose which photo you use and how you use it!  Post your project to your blog or online gallery and then leave a direct link to your project below with Mr. Linky.  Entries are due by Sunday, August 30th.  I will announce the winners for all the prizes and giveaways from this week on Many, August 31st.

Easy, right?  Would you like to know what you can win?  I have two prize packages to give away.  Each one will include a postcard set and a 5×7 of your choice, and a Traveler’s Treasure Accessory kit featured in our Etsy shop!  One winner will be picked as my favorite (I almost hate to do this because I KNOW how hard you all are going to make this for me!)  The second winner will be chosen randomly!

How about I get us started?  Here is my project using a Traveler’s Treasure Accessory kit, which includes buttons found in the Medina!

I love these kits because each one is unique!  The Rain, Rain, Go Away set comes with a rain cloud, rain drops, and at least ten other accessories (which happen to be from at least three different countries!)

Here is another peek!

Okay, go create my friends!!  Good luck!

Woo hoo! I got the last set of Floral Postcards in your Etsy store! Phew! Almost thought they were gone! Can’t wait to see them!!! I want to purchase some of your photography for my home, but we are still deciding on colors and stuff (it’s a loooong process for us…lol!). As soon as we decide, I’ll definitely be doing some shopping at your Etsy! Thanks!!!

When you go to that man’s shop and he lets you go behind the counter to see his merchandise, that is not only a fantastic memory you’ll treasure forever, but he and his friends will never forget you either!

Having trouble getting my link to “stick” with Mr. Linky – for some reason it won’t take. But I wanted you to know I did participate in the challenge – those pictures were too fun not to! Here’s my link: http://nomadsforlife.blogspot.com/2009/08/live-life-to-fullest.html
