Paper {flower} tutorial

February 3rd, 2010 § 14 comments

You probably remember my promise of a video tutorial for this project?  Well, even without my Traveling Man around to do all my technical work, I think I actually figured out how to put my video on here from YouTube.  If you could see my face right now you would notice that I am beaming from ear to ear!  Yay, me!  I did something involving technology and no one even got hurt!

I hope you enjoy it!  Please feel free to make a project using the tutorial and post it on your blog or flickr account.  Come back here and leave me a link so I can come see!

Supplies used:

Super Sticky Tape or Zip Dry Paper Glue

3 strips of paper 1″x6.5″

3 strips of paper .75″x5.25″

*The paper used in this video is from Scarlet Lime.

Well, I don’t think I will be hearing from my agent in Hollywood over this video but I thought it would be a fun way of showing you our pantry and the items that we like to keep on hand.  This wasn’t meant to be a comedy, but as I listened to myself babbling a million miles a second about NOT wanting to show you all my ketchup, mustard, and butter… well, thankfully I slowed down after that!  Below you will find our personal shopping list we used when we moved to Morocco (and the list that we send to family and friends who are kind enough to send packages!)

What about you all?  Are there items that you would add to the list as an expat?  If you still live in your home country imagine with us for just a moment… what would you HAVE to take with you if you were to move to another country?

I’m really looking forward to reading your comments!  I always like to ask our expat friends about their shopping lists.  It’s always fun to compare and I usually end up with more great ideas!

Don’t forget to check back on Friday for the new Traveler’s Inspiration challenge.  I am so excited to get to know you all better through our little creative challenge!

*Edited to add:  I should have mentioned that if you would like a view into Moroccan staple foods check out the cookbook Jack and I made with our Chef friend, Chris.  Go here to check out the cookbook and here for a sneak peek and a free recipe!

Thank you all SO much for your heartwarming response to my {housewarming} project.  Here is a little video of what inspired me!

give me your {walls}

I was browsing through the archives of How About Orange and came across this tutorial.  I loved how she put fabric on the wall, but since decent cotton fabric is hard to come by here I needed another solution.  I’ve debated over a ton of ideas for the wall behind baby Landon’s crib (well, pack n’ play for now)… everything from a wall of funky circles in browns and oranges to a monogram.  I really wanted something with cars, but all I had was a car stamp and a few paints.  It wasn’t looking so good… but then I thought about applying the same concept of the fabric with paper.  It was an “hallelujah” moment!

Here is the end result!  What do you all think?  Are you just as in love with it as I am?  Now, I added my very first video tutorial for you all to watch.  Go easy on me!  I’m SO new at this stuff!  But I wanted to show you all just how easy it was!
