You probably remember my promise of a video tutorial for this project? Well, even without my Traveling Man around to do all my technical work, I think I actually figured out how to put my video on here from YouTube. If you could see my face right now you would notice that I am beaming from ear to ear! Yay, me! I did something involving technology and no one even got hurt!
I hope you enjoy it! Please feel free to make a project using the tutorial and post it on your blog or flickr account. Come back here and leave me a link so I can come see!
It all started with this photo with the sweet banner in Layla’s room. I loved the idea of using my paper stash in ways other than a card or scrapbook.
Then I saw Holly’s lovely garland from Lobster and Swan. That really got my creative juices flowing. I found myself browsing through my paper collection…
And then there was this sweet felt garland by Saidos da Concha. Oh, yes! I was on to something for sure!
This was just too much! Goodness, I went lunging towards the pile of boxes where I began tearing at tape and cardboard until I found my sewing machine…
A few minutes with a circle punch, some paper, and this little sewing machine…
And it all started to come together so beautifully. At first we tried it on our little white Christmas tree, but it got a little lost. Something this sweet deserved a special place of honor. Right here.
Could you see yourself making a project like this? As I listened the steady whirring of the sewing machine I found my thoughts drifting. What other materials would work? Vintage papers would be amazing! And what about brown paper bags or scraps from other projects? What else?
The stage is set for another eventful evening. The performers stand in the wings, peeking out in anticipation of tonight’s show!
The first act of the evening is the timeless and dependable cotton fabric. He’s prepped with a little pencil line and things begin to take shape…
Oh, dear. This looks like it’s going to be painful…
Poke, poke, poke… what one will do in the name of fame! Didn’t wardrobe match that PTI Spring Moss ribbon perfectly? (shhh… it’s DMC thread #772!)
And now the leading lady comes in for makeup… she is looking a bit bare at the moment…
Oh, yes! This makeup artist is a genius!! But the most important question of the evening… Will the leading lady and the leading fellow fall in love?? Will they live happily ever after??
Ahh! They meet and fate appears to be on their side. Did you notice the teensy mistake… you have to watch out for those understudies. They can be so unprofessional! But the show must go on!
As he puckers up for the mushy love seen, she acts nonchalant as if she doesn’t have butterflies in her tummy!
Is it love?? Tell me, tell me! Oh, yes. They seem to be a perfect match, don’t you think? Oh, I am a fool for a good love story! I do believe that they will live happily ever after!
I know many of you might be expecting another Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge. With the summer coming to an end and all the flurry of etsy activity going on behind the scenes here at Travelingmama, I thought we might switch gears here a bit. I actually have another challenge I am working on for you all that I am SO pumped about. So, stay tuned because there will be challenges and giveaways coming very soon!
In the meantime I thought I might share how I added the glitter to this card since so many of you asked about it. I used the same technique on this card, so let’s get started, shall we?
First, I stamped the background pattern that I wanted for the bottom of the card with Guidelines by PTI.
Next came the little flourish at each of the intersections…
See, how things are coming along?
Next, each of the medallions were stamped on Cream cardstock by SU! in Pale Plum, Pumpkin Pie, and So Saffron. These are the colors for the SPCC Challenge, but since I don’t have my Crushed Curry yet (it’s in the mail!) I substituted with So Saffron.
After a few sweeps of the 2-way glue pen, everyone went for a little dip in Dazzling Diamonds.
A little prima,a little sentiment by SU!, a little bling, and some Uuumazing ribbon by May Arts and voila!
Check out TravelingTribe to see my little stamping buddy! I hope you all have a fantastic and restful weekend!
Edited to add: Hey everyone. I created this post in advance for the PTI blog hop but last night I found out that my cousin’s nine month old son passed away after a battle from birth with a heart defect. We would appreciate your thoughts and prayers for the family right now.
There is a certain rush that comes over me as I sit down at my craft table and begin to create. It is rare that I ever know where I am going…
Hard steel against crisp paper makes a little “shwoosh” in my heart. A project has begun! But where to now? A little crease and a few pencil lines and things are starting to take shape.
Methodical stamp, stamp, stamping ensues and my creative juices are running wild. Why, yes! This is just the way I was hoping it would look! A little text style for the background, but who will play the leading role?
Ahh, of course. The infamous tea cup has stolen the audience’s attention once again.
But first she needs a bit of primping. A hag you say? Who are you calling a hag? Oh! A bag. A tea bag! Silly me!
Ouch! A prick and a thread are today’s makeup. Pain is beauty and beauty is a pain… is that how it goes?
Everyone who is anyone knows that a little tape can keep even the *ahem* wildest girls in place. And now let us sit on the edge of our seats as we await the first pluck of the violin. The curtains will soon fly open with a gust as the star of the show makes her appearance…
Why, thank you! Thank you, darlings! An encore you say? Not today, not today!
So many of you have been asking about the calendar project I have been working on over these last few months that I thought it would be fun to do a little video tutorial.
Here is my August calendar page featuring PaperTrey Ink products!
Enjoy!
