It’s the beginning of a new week and I feel like I am coming out of a large black hole. I still have many things to do
before we will feel properly settled, but I believe a girl can do anything when she can begin her day with the bed fixed.
Now, I know many of you will likely disagree, but a fixed bed is an absolute must for me… moving, traveling, and all!
We had quite the riot when the movers attempted to bring our American box spring up the narrow spiral stairway.
There were phone calls and little sigh, then total resignation… no use crying over it, right?
Besides, the lower height lets me put pretty things in the window and I no longer have to worry about little
people plummeting to their death when they come for an unscheduled visit.
I have not really had time to relax in bed and enjoy my stack of vintage books,
but that time will eventually come… I hope!
The ironic part of this side table is that I almost got rid of it a few times while we lived in the other apartment.
I didn’t have a place to put it and did not really care for the color, but now I kind of love it… again.
I have thought about adding wallpaper to the front. What do you think of that idea?
Now, I am off to organize and clean some more. The plumber is here to install a new water heating system,
so maybe by the end of the day I can celebrate all my hard work with a hot, steaming soak in the tub!
I will, at the very least, enjoy daydreaming about it today! What do you have planned for the week?

well, your room seems to be so comfortable and warm! love the window in the back! and that bedside table, i know, at first it seems like the colour isn’t that good, but then the golden legs in the end? how charming is that? it just needs a little love!! and i feel for you and your cold baths my dear! even for me the steaming bath sounds a delicious idea… how could that not seem good for you after cold baths for days?
have a great week! oh i’ve planned a few photo sessions, so i’m happy!!
Yay, this is beautiful! Looks like the new place compliments the things you already have.
I totally agree – in our moves we always fixed our bed first, made our little area, then tended to the rest of the house. (though I think we are holding at move #7, nowhere near your current count!) It looks charming and lovely, Tina. Here’s hoping you get time for that hot bath!
I love that you have a window behind your bed! Wallpaper on the cabinet sounds like a fun idea, too; I definitely think you should try it. How would you decide on a paper though?? =D
Btw- it’s possible to cut the frame of a box spring to fold it in half and then reinforce it with some simple wood strips. I’ve seen it firsthand and the box spring is still going strong. Let me know if you want details. On the other hand, I know a couple who slept with a mattress on the floor for 15+ years before finally getting a frame, so it’s possible. =)
I think the problem at this point is that the bed would cover the window if I raise it at all and I like having a collection of little things there. I would have to give that up and I’m not sure if that’s what I want yet. We’ll see! The bed is actually more comfortable with the mattress on the floor, too! Weird, right?
I know what you mean with the window/shelf. It looks so nice right now!
I would totally keep it on the floor if it was more comfortable that way. I’m on the other side of the coin wishing I could get a taller bed frame, but ours backs into a slanted ceiling that wouldn’t accommodate anything higher. The scale of this looks great!
My mattress has been on the floor for 12 years now. I love it that way.
Your bedroom is so nice. Add a few cats to the bed, craft supplies piled to the side (on their way back to the craftroom) and a dog bed and we could be twins : )
Tina I think that it looks lovely as it is and I would love that shelf behind to place items! When we moved across the country we didn’t take our bed and I regret that so very much – we now have a new one and I wouldn’t be without it! With the table – I think that the wallpaper would be a great idea for the front! You and your tribe must be looking forward to having the hot water back – I definitely think a nice soak in the bath is on the cards! This week is all about getting back into work for me-tidying up my office and planning some new items for it!
Have a great week and enjoy that hot bath…take the time to savour it after all the hard work you have been doing!
I love the wall paper idea on the side table. The shape is great, but the color leaves something to be desired. Your bed looks so cozy!
I agree! I have to have a properly made up bed too – makes it just that much nicer to climb into at the end of the day… The bedside table looks great with your new room, but wall-papering the front could give it a fab new character too!
And I bet you’d have fun doing it.
These are lovely corners of your bed room, and I personally love the table, it remind me that my grandma had one similar like that, looks bit retro and I dislike them before, but now whenever I go back to her place, I admire the simple but versatile look and shape
. So it is good that you decided to keep them.
