Summer is leaving us… Just yesterday I saw leaves eagerly changing, as if they could not stand the anticipation of warm cider, apples glazed in cinnamon and sugar, and a roaring fire to sit by…
I am almost ready… but not quite. Fall is my favorite season… but this summer there was Greece….
I still want to remember the way they played for hours in those rafts…
The way they entertained themselves with a few cars and a wild stretch of beach…
I want to remember the warm sun on my face, the wind in my hair…
The refreshing coolness of the water, the tangy salt on our skin…
And the hours we spent together, laughing, being silly, and whispering our dreams to each other late into the night. Because that is what I love most about summer…
Though I must say, that Greece did make quite the backdrop to all our happy memories…
What about you? What do you love most about summer? Was there anything in particular that made this year’s special?

Oh, I think I feel just the same way you do about sunshine and saltwater… I grew up in Los Angeles and the Philippines, so my most “at home” place to be is at the beach. We had a pretty disappointing early summer, in terms of weather, but we did manage to get to the beach as many times as possible. We also spent two long weekends in De Haan– the Belgian coast. My highlight was going camping in Cromer– the weather was hot, the water was absolutely clear, and the beach was so steep that I could actually dive from the shingle into the water. Totally glorious! Fall is coming fast, but we have a good forecast for the weekend, so I think we’ll hit that beach one more time before it all changes.
Here are some pictures from that trip: http://and-here-we-are.blogspot.co.uk/2012/08/photo-essay-camping-in-cromer.html
My ultimate dream is to get us over to Greece, though! Maybe in the middle of winter? Love your photos…
This has been an unusually warm and sunny summer here in Montreal, and I loved every minute of it. We started the season with a family vacation to Spain, and it was absolutely incredible. We really did spend every available minute outside. It’s been a wonderful summer simply because of that, we were able to make the most of it, without any worries and guilty feelings. And as the season changes, I know that this will remain a summer to be remembered.
Beautiful photos Tina you can see what a great time you were all having – gorgeous swimsuit by the way – love it!! I grew up on the coast and the beach and saltwater to me were my sanctuary be it summer or winter. I love the warmth on my skin and the coolness of the water and spending time with friends and family or just sitting with a good book and ice cream. Our winter is really like summer – all the travellers come to town to escape their cold winter. It was great to see our little man in the ocean and playing in the sand (read trying to eat it – of course he is only 10months!). It is now starting to get warmer and soon we will be relegated to the inside with the air conditioning but before that we want another little trip away!
Amazing pics Tina! I’ve been to Greece a few times but was never able to actually swim in the ocean, it was too cold! Then again, I was raised in Mexico where the caribbean waters are nothing but warm! Happy last days of summer!
Your photographs capture summer so well. What I love about summer are relaxed days at the lake and getting out the door in seconds. No hats, scarves, coats, socks, boots. Just a pair of sandals and a dress. That’s a huge deal when you have little kids to dress!
Sun, strawberries, the smell of the ocean, humudity, floral dresses. x
No signs of fall approaching here; however, we will go apple picking this weekend. Lovely photos!
@Ariana I love your photos! It looks like an amazing way to spend a vacation!
Everyone’s summers sound so great! I want to experience each one of them!
Love the pics, especially the one of your baby on the beach alone and the one of you and your daughter! Both of them fill me with joy at the memories of my own little ones.
This summer we took our first ever road trip across 5 states! It was awesome! I am currently blogging about it here…

I can already feel the crisp air creeping in here in Chicago. I love it, but it is a reminder that yet another summer has come and gone.
for long time ago i´m here again and discover your story of this summer…wonderful shots…and i could feel what you mean…we are back from denmark by the way…were at the westcoast again and had a wonderful late summer weather…i miss the wind in my hair and the sand on my feet…and the sea and its music…of summer dreams…but it is still a little bit summer here in south germany and so i will enjoy some more days of sitting out and have a magical time…;)…send you a big hug and i´m looking forward to an exciting autumn with our inspirations on our blogs…take care and all the best…cheers and hugs…i…
Beautiful photos of your family and you Tina! This summer we just DID. Drove wherever and did whatever…it was fun and busy. Usually we are lazy and hang around the house…but my daughter said almost everyday “BEST SUMMER EVER”. That was a blessing! The most poignant was the Flight 93 memorial. It wasn’t so much fun…as meaningful and reflective. It was one of those HAVE TOs. Take care~
Your photos are stunning ! How lucky and talented you are !! Love travelling with your photos !!
