I am having the best time reading all of your suggestions for the advent book calendar that I posted yesterday and may have to order a book or two to pop into the mix to surprise my kids! Today, I have one more idea since a few of you mentioned that your kids might protest if the chocolate advent calendar disappeared!
This time I made 24 origami boxes using this tutorial and filled them with little treats for the kids (and my husband too!)
I have to admit that by the 24th box I was growing a bit weary of making these, but in the end it was so worth it! Tying each up with a pretty bow was fun because I could well imagine the looks of excitement on my kids’ faces as they unwrapped their present each day!
I already had all the supplies in my stash, so it only cost me a few bucks for the candy, though the paper and ribbon would not cost much to purchase either. Not only do they have enough candy to share with Dad (and mom, too!), the overall cost was much lower than buying three calendars at the store. As a frugal and creative mom, that is definitely something I can enjoy!

I’m doing a folding-box calendar this year for S. and I’m already worried about all the folding, lol, but I’ll do it anyhow! =D Yours turned out great and is reminding me to use my big circle punch for a few of mine as well!

How are you storing these? Are they in a basket or hanging from a small tree? Does Denmark have Christmas Markets like Germany?

They are beautiful and a stunning idea! I made 12 christmas stockings last year which I hang on a natural rope with numbered pegs, then I rotate them with the following numbers as they get taken down. Mine are filled with chocolate and characters from a playmobile nativity scene. Each year the children get to build the scene and the baby Jesus comes out on the 24th. They love getting them down each morning.
