She was not in the habit of leaving her warm home or her cozy fire… In fact, if one were to peer into her life on any other day, they would find nothing more than an ordinary girl curled up next to an even more ordinary fire with little more than piles of books and blankets to keep her company… It was not as though she did not want more from her life, but she just felt so tired these days… and she had grown accustomed to her solitude.
But for some reason, because no better explanation could be given, she threw off her mundane plainness and slipped into a more storybook kind of get-up. With little more than a moment’s notice, she shook herself free of her everyday habits and plunged into the woods…
With rosy cheeks and toes quickly turning cold she roamed the icy forest… searching… for what or who she was not certain, but that day something had called her and she had obeyed…
She looked high and she looked low, but no sense could be made of this extraordinary adventure… until she thought she heard something… a noise in the distance…
But no, a quick glance confirmed that she was alone, and suddenly she felt as if there were not another soul in the world… Perhaps she had come to the end and her loneliness would last forever. There would be no happy ending for her… She would simply go back… to her plain life and the years would pass unnoticed by herself or anyone else until eventually the end swept her away…
What was the point, she wondered… Why go back? What if she kept searching? Perhaps there was something to this forrest… maybe there was something less common to be found if only she did not give up… And a little twinkle of hope filled her tender heart…
To be Continued…
I do hope you won’t mind me indulging my fictional fantasies for a day or two?
