Happy Monday to you! I hope you had a lovely weekend? Are you ready to start another week?
As I mentioned before, my daughter is getting ready to have her twelfth birthday in a couple weeks and we have started planning her party. This year we decided to go with a bit of an over-the-top, Marie Antoinette inspired theme. There should be loads of mint, coral, gold, and pale pink… and perhaps a few ruffles, too! While normally I simply show you the finished product, I thought it might be fun to show you some of the inspiration behind one of my celebrations and give you more of a behind-the-scenes tour of how I go from having no idea what kind of party we will throw to the special day.
The very first thing I do is look at my pinterest and see what colors I have been pinning lately and see if there is anything in particular that jumps out at me. Lately I have been pinning a lot of pinks, ruffles, and mint, so I thought that might be a good place to start. Then my daughter and I had a little brainstorming session. We chatted about the colors because ultimately she has to love it and then we discussed elements we might want included.
Some of the ideas we discussed were pinwheels, feathers, and pom poms, but when she saw the photo of the party above, she was certain that she had found her starting point. I then began creating an inspiration board with the colors and the girly feel she wanted. Right now we are busy trying to shop all the local charity shops in hunt of the perfect tea cups and dishes. That is probably the most challenging part of a party because here in Denmark there are many things not readily available to us as they might be in the US. We are not ones to back down from the challenge, though, so I hope to continue sharing some of our finds and inspiration over the next couple weeks as we get ready. Does that sound like something you would enjoy reading about?

Good luck on your search for teacups and saucers.
