When my Mother-in-law was in town a few weeks ago she didn’t have an agenda for her trip. Well, that’s not entirely true. She wanted to spend time with the Tribe and… go shopping in the Medina.

Last year she practically bought every pair of slippers… seriously, they never restocked them! Well, with all the slippers gone we had to find something else and oh, we did!

Think beautiful antique treasure boxes, but I wasn’t sure about the price and we were in a new shop. I got to work with my bargaining. I play hard- I don’t like paying more than I have to for anything. After several minutes of going back and forth and me pretending like I was going to walk away (like my Mother-in-law was leaving without her box!) the shop owner finally threw his arms up. In an exasperated voice he told me he was afraid of me and I should just tell him how much I wanted to pay. Okay! Thanks! I’ll take it for a fourth of your original asking price! Bulletins were sent out all over the shops: “Beware of the evil 5’1″ bargaining American. She’s SOOOO scary!” LOL!

you and me both, girl! My intention is to keep them scared!
It took me a little while to figure out the new feed system. I guess I am technically challenged. What beautiful slippers. I wish I was good at bargaining. I totally suck at it.
Love this story! =)

That’s hysterical. I could just picture it. Now, those shop owners are part of the family.
