I have discovered that stepping out and trying new things can be overwhelming at first. It’s like the first day of school. I show up shy with knees wobbling and hoping beyond hope that my outfit and hair will satisfy the latest fashion trends and better yet, the worst critics (aka 3rd graders!) I feel the need to have perfected it all while knowing deep down that creativity is a journey- not a destination which one can ever truly arrive at. It is that same process which I feel so insecure about displaying that gives me little butterflies and makes me feel all giddy inside. It just feels like the whole world is out there and I cannot wait to wake up and discover something new and fresh today! Do you feel that sense of excitement and wonder still? Are you looking for new avenues by which to find fresh ideas?
My project today isn’t necessarily life altering, but it definitely satisfied a certain four year old who was very upset with me when I did not give him this car paper. (He saw me using it for this project.) I promised Hailey that when she completed one third of her homeschooling material that we would have a little party. Yesterday was that day and she could not have been more excited! Parker, however, was a little disappointed because he woke up thinking it was Christmas morning (what did he eat before he went to bed?) and was sorely grieved that he was not getting THIS car garage. (He has been showing us the picture obsessively EVERY day since we picked up the catalog in Gibraltar!) Well, I couldn’t very well drive to Gibraltar and pick up his favorite toy, but I wanted to make him something special that he would enjoy. So, I grabbed the paper he had been eyeing, ripped off the flimsy cover of a generic notebook and replaced it with a little sticky tape and a couple staples. Instant art journal! He loved it and I cannot wait to see more of his recent drawings (which seem to revolve around Christmas and toys. Hmmm… noticing a trend here?)
The paper is by Cosmo Cricket, which is one of my favorite paper companies out there. Don’t they just have the cutest stuff? I have become very partial to paper companies that produce paper that could easily make fabulous fabric. I want to use paper in my projects that I would also want in my home.
PS The boys’ room seems to be making it’s rounds! It was featured on Project Nursery, which is such an awesome site and full of great inspiration! I feel so honored!

love it! I want one.
You know what… aren’t projects like the noteboook you created really what crafting is all about? It is for me anyway. Look how the simplest thing does so much for someone. It screams “I care about you” in the clearest way.
I love it, but mostly because of how happy it made your little one to receive it! It’s super-duper cute too!
I want one too!!! Too adorable!!! Oh… I’d love to have an adorable nursery but wow, just not motivated
