going {bohemian}

July 2nd, 2009

A very funny thing has happened to me since we arrived in Morocco.  I have found my personal style and taste in decor evolving.  It must be something about all the bohemian inspiration all around me here!  No worries- there will be no bongs or lava lamps sneaking into my house any time soon.  Oddly enough I find my two favorite styles are almost at opposite sides of the spectrum.  On one hand I love the loose and free feel of bohemian fabrics while at the same time I long for clean and crisp white Swedish style.

My card today is for Dawn’s Raspberry Suite Challenge.  I loved the colors and went with a muted bohemian feel.

Don’t forget to stop by tomorrow for our very first Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge!  Now if I can just narrow down which photo I want to use…  Do you have a favorite that has inspired you from our travels?  Check the travel catagories on my side bar, or Spain and Morocco too!  Let me know what you think!

I can’t see the travel categories on your side bar, am I just blind? I’ve also always been a lover of the bohemian.

  • Tina says:

On the right side column under categories you will find Morocco, Spain, and Travel! (It’s just under our flickr photos!) Thanks for letting me know!

  • Great card! I spent three hours last night trying to come up with something for that challenge!! I give up!

  • Tina says:

One other thing you might want to check… you have to be on the home page to see the categories! Maybe that was it!

Like your card! Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, I just now realize that I’m not entirely sure what it is that I’m supposed to do for your Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge, just visit your blog tomorrow for more … inspiration, or post something on my own blog?
PS would love to learn more about bohemian-moroccan style!

I love your card. And i love your new furnishings and bedding. I am with you the clean sensibilty of Swedish style is lovely and simple, and yet hand crafted. But Bohemian interjects flair and fresh fun that the straight forward Swedish approach often lacks.
I am torn between styles also, I really love Edwardian, contemporary, mixed with Swedish so I am having a hard time smoothing the edges out in my decor.

Is there an Ikea in Morocco?? I spy a little plant from there. I only know because I have two just like it. Cute card, and I agree a little bohemian style can be good for splashes of color.

Beautiful, eclectic style on this card — I just love the bohemian look! Can’t wait for your challenge tomorrow.

Now to go try my hand at Dawn’s colors, wish me luck!

  • Ann says:

Love this! Great job with the colors!

  • Tina says:

No such luck! The closest Ikea is in Spain. We have Kitea which is a knock off but it doesn’t come close to comparing!

Thank you! Thank you for the tip. You see, I follow your blog in my email so when I click to your actual site it automatically takes me to the page of the post.

You are such an inspiration to me. I’ve been following several sites for a while, but yours is the first one that makes me want to interact and not just stalk. :) I can’t wait to read the details of your inspiration so I can participate.

And, you inspire me to get moving on my own creative blog…

What a great card!! You can definitely see the influences around you in this card. I love all of your posts, it’s so fun to learn about someplace new and especially from an Americans’ point of view :0) And what a great idea for a summer challenge !! Lovin’ that slipper pic already. I’ll have to see if I can come up with something with all of those pretty colors - right now I’ve got red white and blue on the brain :0)

  • Cami says:

Very good use of the five colors! Thanks for sharing!

  • Janelle says:

I see both the Bohemian/Moroccan and the Swedish influence in your card. Great job! My life is full of seeming contradictions, too. Maybe that’s just part of being human. I’ll have to look for your Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge. (Oh — I see now a link to it below. I’ll check it out!)

  • This is such a gorgeous card! I love the yellow bird, the photo is super cool!! I hope that you’re enjoying Moracco, i’m not very good geographically so i’ll have to look it up!!
