When I was studying to complete my degree in International Affairs I took a political science class that focused on the conflict in Ireland. Month after month we read and discussed car bombs and religious conflict and on and on and on. By the end of the class I vowed to never, EVER go to Ireland. It sounded so horrible… So primal… So random…
And then my good friend, Katie, went to Ireland a few weeks ago. As I browsed her photos from her trip I found myself wondering how on earth this could be the same place I had studied a few years ago. Where were the bombs? Where were the religious protests? None of that was there and I realized in that moment that my professor had seriously missed a few key details in that class. Ummm… beautiful bridges, serene green pastures, crisp white homes… anyone else ready to hop on a plane with me? This photo is one of many gorgeous photos. I wish I could share every one of them with you along with her stories, but instead I have a couple cards to share with you…
Here is my card. I loved the houses in the photo and the colors were just so fun to play with!
Here is Katie’s card. She came by and we had a little crafty time, which is SUCH a treat for me! Now, Katie has been very shy and I’ve been trying to convince her to open an online account somewhere so she can show us her creations regularly. Maybe if you all tell her how cute her card is she will do it!
PS I think this will be our last Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge for now, but we will see what the future holds! We have lots of fun coming here at Travelingmama!
So, are you ready to play along? Here is how:
Who: Anyone with the slightest hankering for creativity can participate. You also must have a blog or online gallery, such as Splitcoaststampers, Flickr, or Twopeasinabucket where you can post your projects.
What: Use the inspiration photo to inspire your own project. It is totally up to you how you interpret the inspiration photo. Whether it’s a card, a scrapbook page, a photo, a sewing project, a painting…
Post a photo of your project along with a description of what inspired you from the inspiration photo. Come back to Travelingmama and post a direct link to your blog post on Mr. Linky.
When: I will post a new photo every Friday through the end of summer here at Travelingmama. You will have one week to complete the challenge! Yeah!
Where: You can also post the inspiration photo on your blog to show your readers what inspired your project!
If you need more clarification you can check this post or e-mail me! Also, as a separate request I am still looking for more inspiration photos! E-mail them to me at travelingmama@pobox.com and tell me about your photo. If it is accepted I will request a project from you so you too can be highlighted here on our Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge!

I’d like to see a card that combines the brilliant colors of flowers in a impressionist water-color style.
Although I don’t have the time to play along, I wish to answer your question–YES, I am ready to board a plane! Actually, I am going to Ireland next week! Thanks for the sneak peek. I really enjoy your blog, Tina.
Very pretty! I can’t wait to create something from it! I have been going through some of my pictures, so I can send it to you for the challenge. Stop by my blog, I have an award for you!
Oh Tina! What a great story… and a lesson to just “see for yourself” before letting someone else form your opinion for you.
Your friend’s photo and card are both wonderful. Sad to see these go, but so excited and on the edge of my seat to see what you have in store.
I look forward to playing along.
Oh I loved Ireland. My girlfriend & I went there before university & I LOVED it. We ran out of money 2 1/2 weeks into the vacation and had to fly back to Canada. Totally playing before this week is up!
Both cards are gorgeous, Tina!!!
Thanks for the fun challenge! I am so glad I got to play along.
