This is the story of a traveling girl who met a traveling guy. They got married and had traveling children and together they crafted and photographed their way around the world…
On their most recent adventure this Traveling Tribe found themselves in the beautiful country of Morocco where the mint tea and couscous abound. They made a happy life together, crafting and photographing their daily life and sharing it with the world.
And then one day the Traveling Mama heard about a government program that was helping repaint all of the public schools in Morocco. She had visited many schools and was excited to hear that the government was making such a great effort to beautify their schools. Any aid was welcome when 80% of the women were illiterate. But the Traveling Mama knew that more help was needed. So she started planning, searching for the right school that needed more than just paint to ensure the future of it’s students.
She heard about a school not too far from her own home that was in great need. The children walked miles and miles to attend school, but there was no fresh drinking water for them nor a restroom. Their school supplies were scarce and they had very few books to read.
She immediately began to brainstorm with the rest of the Traveling Tribe. How could they help? And then they realized that though they did not have much to offer themselves, the one thing they did have was lots of her crafty items and his photographs. If they were to sell their precious belongings then perhaps the money could be used to build a well, a restroom, a reading corner, a library, and even a stock of supplies.
And so they set about researching the little details like shipping and printing companies. It took months of preparations to finally find the right products to ensure their customers the absolute best quality possible…
Today begins a great celebration of the opening of their very own Etsy shop: Travelingmama. They hope with the greatest of hopes that you all might honor them by visiting their little shop and purchasing an item or two. Every penny of the profit will go towards building a better future for the children of Morocco. In return they promise to post photos of the makeover that will be in the works until mid November.
Now, to get this grand celebration started, it only seemed appropriate to have a little giveaway. Leave a comment for us here by Sunday, August 31st for an opportunity to win your own post card set! You can enter again by stopping by Traveling Tribe and leaving a comment there as well! We would love to get the word out about our project, so if you post a link to our blog and send folks here we will add your name into “the hat” for each commenter who mentions you!

Your deed will never be forgotten. It inspires us to do the same in our own little ways of helping those who are in need and sharing our blessings to those who are less fortunate. You’re like my fave celebrity couple. i found your site from Nichole’s blog (http://nicholeheady.typepad.com/capture_the_moment/). You’re both wonderful people. Thanks for the inspiration! ^_^
