you’re a {good} apple

by Tina on February 23, 2010

westelmHappy Monday!  I hope you all had a restful weekend and have started the week off well.  For us this week is going to be what I will affectionately call the appointment mother load.  Before we go back overseas and have to figure out new medical systems, doctors, and all that, we are heading to the doctor and dentist while we are here… and I won’t lie.  I do not care what they do to me- poke me, prod me, but pleeeease don’t weigh me!  Ha!  You think I’m kidding?  It’s going to take a miracle this side of heaven to keep me from having a stroke when I step up “to the plate.”  No pun intended!  Seriously, I’m thinking maybe I should not have indulged quite so much since we have been in the States…

Those pints of soy ice cream, smothered in chocolate syrup, with a banana, of course, might have caught up with me.  While I am confessing I may as well admit to the countless trips to Chick-fil-A, drinking Dr. Pepper like it’s water in the desert, and oh, all those stinkin’ American cookies.  It ain’t gonna be pretty, people!

So, to combat the blues that have settled over me like a thick, unrelenting fog, I have already started… errr… restarted… again… my exercise regime.  But you probably wouldn’t want to see that either!

Instead, I thought you might like a card I made for the Everything But the Kitchen Sink Challenge.  I have lots of fun stuff to share with you later in the week as well!   If you haven’t stopped by Moxie Fab World, then you may want to pop over there.  Cath has all kinds of prizes and goodies she is giving away in celebration of the release of PaperCrafts’ Stamp It! Magazine (which happens to be my very first publication!)… and you may want to stop by here on Wednesday for a little PaperCrafts fun!

So, in spite of the fact that I have sworn off chocolate and every other food except for lettuce this week (and did I mention that my sister is out of town, my husband is gone to all day meetings, and I am watching 5 kids rather than three.  I picked the wrong day to give up chocolate!) I’m hoping this week is going to be a good one and that you will stop by each day so we can visit and chat all things papercrafting.

I feel your pain. Definitely sounds like a bad time to give up chocolate. You created a great card with the sketch, so that was a nice diversion from chocolate!

Oh dear, sounds like you certainly could have used a good chocolate fix today:) Your card is sweeter than sweet!

Love the card, love the post! Totally cracked me! I wish I had the fortitude to swear off everything but lettuce . . . alas . . . I am weak . . . found a box of Andes mints in the back of the pantry . . . eek!

Very cute card Tina! I know what it feels to over indulge coming to the States, on my sec return to the US I gained a lot of weight, it took a while to loose it, hehe, but I dunno, I guess it’s this darn food everywhere!

Thanks for sharing such lovely card. I have the same three colors paired up on my crafting table, I kid you not ready to create something with them. TFS

Ha! When watching 5 kids, it is good to have a small indulgence. Say, something with a touch of caffeine? WHew – hope your week goes well, mommy in the trenches, and if you also prove your over-achieving nature by making awesome cards while keeping the kids? I.will.get.you! Oh yeah, and I really like this apple one! Great.

Love the card, Tina. Great colors! And… apples are good for you, too. Oh, and haven’t you read that dark chocolate is a superfood? Good stuff inside it and, get this, it relieves stress! I say — load up! (Don’t ask me for details as I may be overstating d.c.’s value, but I’m sticking with my interpretation of the data — and eating a little every night before I go to bed to help me sleep. haha)

Beautiful Tina!!
Hello dear friend!!
You are going to have the best day/week!!! (i’m thinking positive for you!!) Really though, don’t be so hard on yourself!!! Before long all this will be a distant memory, so it’s ok that you’ve enjoyed so much!!! As for your cool card, well it certainly makes you want to go and crunch on a apple….perhaps a chocolate flavoured one! he he!!
Love and Hugs

What a cute card with so much going on in your life. Hopefully all the chaos in your house will distract you from the sweets you can’t have. Good luck with your exercising and you know, they say smelling what you want to eat(but can’t) sometimes works. Guess that all depends on ones will power.
