guest blogger: {Kim Jackson}

Edited to add: Hey there!  It’s me, Traveling Mama!  We landed in Denmark a few hours ago and we are quickly settling in.  The kids are thrilled to be here and have eagerly unpacked their bags!  Kim has been so great to guest blog for me today, but apparently those of you viewing the post in Internet Explorer have been having trouble.  I have tried to fix the problems, so please let me know if you have any further trouble.  Please leave Kim some love in the comments so she will know just how much we appreciate her!  Okay, take it away, Kim!

Hi everyone!

I’m Kim Jackson, and I’m senior editor of Creating Keepsakes Magazine.  O already know a bunch of you from my own blog, and from the other color and sketch challenges that we online crafty peeps love so much.  Speaking of inspiration, I was so honored when the Traveling Mama herself asked me to guest blog while she starts her next adventure.  And I thought, why not share a scrapbook page about my own European adventure?

paris1When I turned 25, I spent my birthday in the London’s Heathrow Airport, waiting for a friend who was flying in from India.  Let me tell you- if you love to people watch, baggage claim at Heathrow is a goldmine!  But the real adventure was when we left London for Paris.  I spent an entire day just wandering the city by myself and discovered that 1) Parisians are incredibly kind and patient if you are at least willing to *try* to speak French, and 2) pink aviator shades can help you blend in.  People kept asking me for cigarettes and if I spoke English.  I call that a satisfying trip to Paris!

Anyway, this 8-1/2″x11″ page went together so quickly.  It’s just three layered bits of colorful patterned  paper, a matted photo, tape, and letters.  You’ll notice that I have no embellishments on this page other than bits of tape at the corners.  The bold patterns and colors do all the work.  Give this a try on your next layout or card- I bet you’ll love your page as much as I love this one.

Hope you all have a day filled with adventure!

Kim

This is an awesome layout, Kim! I love the color choices! Paris is absolutely beautiful. But, I couldn’t imagine walking the city by myself! Brave girl!
