I never grow weary of a clean and graphic card. I love taking a simple image and transforming into something extraordinarily simple and beautiful.

With a color combination that is interesting, it makes the design intriguing… or at least to me!

I think I will eventually leave my crisp white background in exchange for something more moody and dreamy, but for today this is what makes me happy!
Do you know that feeling? When you step back from a project you are working on and it’s just the way you had hoped? Sometimes I feel let down when there is very little response to something I formerly loved. I start to doubt myself, my talents, and my abilities… but it shouldn’t be about that, should it?
Whether we have just begun our craft or have been doing it for many years, we will only find satisfaction in what we do if we do it from our hearts. It need not be contrived or overly thought through either. Otherwise, it becomes a jumbled mess and we no longer know where we are in the middle of all of it. I think this is the key to finding our own style. Just be yourself, have fun, and don’t over think it! Which is a lot easier to say than it is to practice. For better or for worse, we are heavily influenced by the world around us and while we try so hard to be ourselves… well, I just think most of us want a place to belong. And I have noticed over the years that most clubs and groups are usually made up of people that are all similar.
So, if we are not careful we start designing based on what someone else will like or for a certain publication, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing… it just becomes a bad thing when we lose the joy.
I have had days like this, sometimes even weeks, and the thing I always go back to is this: Am I having fun? Am I proud of what I have made? If I can answer yes to both those things, then I know I creating from the heart… and whatever comes from that comes.

Love this post. Most definitely love this post o’ yours. And I think it applies to most creative mediums. Thanks for sharing, Tina! Your post has made me smile. :>
you are right. you are so right. Thankyou for opening my eyes to this small truth.
I think Denmark is rubbing off on you – all beautifully clean and elegant. These cards are beautiful.
I often think this myself… The past couple of calls I haven’t had a million cards picked up, but I know I’m making the kind of cards that I love! Your card is stunning!
So clean and graphic they are, and beauties to look at.
You nailed it. A while ago I set a goal for myself to get published–somewhere, somehow.
The thing is, it turned something that I love to do into a stress machine–the process was totally ruined for me. I still have the get-published goal, but I’ve let go of the deadline. I’ll still submit if something tickles my fancy, but maybe I’m still finding my own groove and that’s okay, too. I’m sure I’ve told you this before, but it’s still true: part of why I love your work so much is that it really stands out of the crowd—it’s just so you, no need to copy anyone else because you are simply fabulous. Thanks for all the inspiring work and words!
Couldn’t have said it better myself!! Tina.. I ADORE your creations they are always.. well so YOU!!! Although I’ve been a llittle quite lately I PROMISE I visit often and ALWAYS leave with a smile on my face and HAPPY heart, because like you said if you LOVE it and create it with JOY it shows.. and with your beautiful creations.. it ALWAYS shows.
xx Sarah
Great words for me to read right now. I find myself getting discouraged sometimes when my photos don’t get a good reaction, but then I remember that everyone’s taste is different, and that’s not a bad thing.
Very nice cards!
Well said, Tina! I love the simple, clean design of these cards!

Thanks for the reflection, Tina…I’ve been in a crafty funk all summer. I need the reminder of why I do this hobby!
Love the clean look of these cards. I don’t always say anything, the day tends to get away on me, but I always go to your site whenever there’s an update because I enjoy your work so much. This is a great thoughtful post.
