a visit to {downton}

During the summer we were fortunate enough to visit HighClere Castle, or what many of us would know as Downton Abbey.  Are you a fan of the show?  We cannot get enough of it and I nearly died of excitement when we got to tour the house.  It looks exactly like it does on the show, so now every time we watch an episode I cannot help but say, “Oh!  We’ve been there!  We stood right there where they are standing!”  Unfortunately no photos were allowed inside… sigh… so sad…

We did get to take photos in the garden… the secret garden!  How charming!  I would love to have a secret garden… I would hide there with a stack of books, bare legs, and a box of chocolates…
I would pluck a stem of lavender for a bookmark… a fragrant reminder of my little hideaway…

But since I am never one to enjoy too much time alone, I would likely invite you to come along…

Because what use is a secret garden if you cannot share it with the people you love the most?

I love Downton Abbey as well but we don’t get the next season over here until the new year (I believe). Cannot wait! I also love that last picture of your children running away – great shot.

We love Downton Abbey too, but even though the castle is only a few hours from here, we’ve never been. Your pictures make me want to go though. The secret garden looks magical. And love that last picture of your kids running!

apparently they have a very beautiful set up for the holidays too – on my list to check out one day during a london trip!

I recently discovered that Highclere Castle is really quite near me! It closes in the winter so I think I’ll plan a visit for the Spring, I’m a big fan of Downton Abbey so would love to see it up close!
