Today I am so excited to bring you a glimpse back into the temporary house that we stayed in while living in the US for six months and the budget friendly office & Dining Room Facelift we did that cost less than $300.  With our biggest investment being the desk for $120, I hope that you will see that very little money can go a long, long way with a little bit of styling and a few key pieces!  I don’t know about you guys, but we are in a constant debate over where to spend our extra cash… should it go to the house, to a new outfit… or to some exotic destination?

Well, with these rooms, we pared things down dramatically and went simple, which is what we would recommend to anyone trying to create a new space and everything that we kept or put back in was super affordable, so there is plenty of money left over for travel!   We have always believed that it is better to start with a well designed blank space than one crowded with lots of clutter and/or things that don’t really help you reach your end design goals.  And isn’t that what the New Year is always about?  Declutter and Simply!

Here’s the before:

Ouch, right?

Take a peek inside and see what you think of the after.  We’ve included a little video at the end for you as well!

The house came with this chair, so we pulled that into this space and purchased the Desk from Target, along with the light.  Don’t be afraid to use your own personal items to decorate your space.  It makes that cute bag a double investment!

With almost no budget for the dining room, we simplified the room by taking down the dated artwork and dark window coverings.  Then we added gorgeous curtains, a modern light, and a simple linen tablecloth to brighten the space.  We also recovered the chairs with an inexpensive fabric, though a punch of pattern would have been fun, too!

What a huge difference that tablecloth makes! It makes the room look so fresh and new!
