in family, Morocco

I was delighted to receive an invitation from Brooke to participate in this week’s Cinema Saturday Creative ChallengeBrooke and Sankari host a challenge each week based on a movie.  The theme this week?  Casablanca.  The movie that is!  I spent most of the afternoon trying to think of what kind of a card I wanted to make for this challenge.  I mean, living in Morocco definitely gives me first hand experience with Morocco itself, but the movie isn’t really about Casablanca itself.  (Did you know that only one scene was actually filmed in Morocco?)  I felt this card needed romance and the more I thought about it, the more I became convinced that my card had to be for my husband.

We just celebrated two years in Morocco and it has been a wild and crazy adventure.  I cannot imagine anyone else I would want to have shared this time with and I find myself getting warm fuzzies in spite of my usual reasonableness.  I’m sputtering and carrying on like a hormonal teenager because I’m still madly in love with my him after almost 10 years of marriage.  He is my best friend and I’m so glad I married him.  He is my comfort, my happiness, my life.  I remember the day I met him like it was yesterday. He made me come alive that day… he still has that affect on me.

Okay.  Okay.  Enough with the sappy stuff, right?  Back to the card…  Don’t you just love the white “tiles” from Guidelines.

When I saw this set I just KNEW that I had to have it because it reminded me so much of the beautiful tilework found throughout Morocco.  And you might have noticed that a certain little camel snuck into the picture.  He prefers his friends to call him “Jiml” which is camel in Arabic.  I found him down in the Medina this week.  Like a treasure, he was waiting for a special someone to notice that he was hand carved from cedar.  He’s a sneaky camel who like to play practical jokes so we’ll have to keep an eye on him!

HI Tina! YAY!! Thanks so much for playing along – we both immediately thought of you when we picked this movie — living in Morocco and all! SO happy that you played along! YAY! I LOVE LOVE the tiles that you created for this card – its absolutely perfect (reminds me of the door to Rick’s Cafe in Casablanca) and I am soo blown away that you stamped all the tiles – that it wasn’t a DP!!! WOwiE!!! Love the blue and love the sentiment – your husband is going to LOVE this (and hey – don’t stop with the sappy stuff – that’s so sweet to read about – you guys are so sweet – he takes such beautiful pictures of you and the babies! soooo special!) And I also LOVE Jimi – what a cutie – Can’t wait to hear what kind of jokes he has played on you guys!!

Thanks so much for playing along in the Cinema Saturday challenge Tina – Its always a joy to come visit your blog – I am always amazed at how you do it with three wee ones running around!!! Best wishes and big cup of cheers!!!
Sankari 🙂

Thanks so much for your cookie recipe. I was in a bind today and remembered that you had posted that recipe a few days ago. It was a total hit for my sons 10th birthday. We took it to school and all the kids said it rocked. I love the travel segments on your blog. How did you end up in Morocco?
