Cherry Blossoms Again + Lessons on Persistence

Traveling Mama Cherry Blossoms Morning-3

I have discovered in life that when you find a good thing, it is best to hold on as tightly as possible to it and only let it slip away when it can no longer be contained.  In addition to this, I have learned that if you don’t get what you want the first time, keep trying.

Both of these thoughts were running through my mind as I dropped off the kids at school and headed back to the Cherry Blossoms at Bispebjerg.  I thought I might beat the crowds and get an unobstructed photo of the tree lined path if I got there early in the morning, but as I drove up my heart sank quickly in my chest.  There were at least 30 other people who had obviously had the same thought. After 15 minutes of watching, waiting, re-shooting the photos I took the day before, two extraordinary things happened simultaneously…

1. The sun came out in a brilliance that made bathed the entire path in pink.

2. A videographer and his assistance cleared out every single person from the path and the surrounding area for exactly 30 seconds.

At the time I was fairly focused on holding the camera still because I was nearly shaking in the magnitude of the moment.  “My God,” I  thought, “I know the paths of heaven are supposed to be paved in gold, but pink wouldn’t be such a bad alternative if they ever decide to redecorate up there.”

Convinced that the camera could never adequately capture such beauty, especially with me manning the operation, I lingered anyways with my face hot to the touch from the heat of the morning sun.  Content simply by the fact that I had been present for something so beautiful, I jumped back in the car, cranked up Frank Sinatra and didn’t think much more of the photos until later that night.

Here is what I found…

Anyone else want to vote for more paths of pink in the heavenly realms?  It would make quite an entrance, don’t you think?  When it comes to grabbing the perfect shot, sometimes a little persistence is all that is needed… and sometimes a little dumb luck doesn’t hurt either.

For some reason, I’ve been seeing posts and photos from friends and bloggers all over the world of cherry blossoms this year on a level I never have before. Pretty much they are just making me jealous since out here in California the closest thing we have are Orange Blossoms and while they may be my favorite sent aren’t the same type of beauty. Thanks for sharing your beautiful story and beautiful photos.
