Experts say that it is super important to start the day off with a good breakfast, and I am going to go out on a limb and suggest that starting the week off here on the blog with a great breakfast will kick start a great week as well!

I am in a constant debate between wanting to eat a super healthy breakfast and feeling the urge to eat cake instead, but with this chocolate crinkle cookie oatmeal, you will get a hearty, healthy breakfast while feeling just a little bit naughty at the same time.  It’s the best of both worlds!  Much like it’s sister oatmeal recipe, the cinnamon roll oatmeal, this recipe is super simple and quick to make.  I even made it for my kids this morning, so I can tell you first hand as a mom with a million and one things on my agenda, even I can squeeze in this one.

The fact that it tastes like a gloriously delicious chocolate crinkle cookie, but fills the belly all morning long is just icing on the cake.  Oh, and let’s not forget that the health benefits of oatmeal are numerous, including lowering cholesterol and risk of diabetes.  If mom is happy and her kids are happy then the day is sure to be off on the right foot!

This recipe is more of a guideline rather than a specific list that should be followed closely.  In fact, I don’t put the sugar in anymore, but I did at first to wean us all off our sweet tooth and then worked our way down to excluding it all together.  I never measure any of the ingredients, but this recipe will help you get started until you can eye the ingredients and know how much to put in.  I really believe that we all deserve to eat a healthy and hearty breakfast, but feeling pampered along the way will definitely help us keep at it!  Enjoy!

That does sound good. (Really) nice and not too naughty. Will try this out for sure for the kids (and me). Thanks for sharing. x

Tried this with a slight change, added organic cherry yoghurt and no banana or sugar and it was delicious. Posted a photo on Instagram (jomyhill)
