christmas {party}

Last night we hosted a Christmas party and had the nicest time with our friends.  I think it

can be so easy to feel lost in a new culture, but finding good friends to laugh and share life with

makes a foreign country feel infinitely less foreign.

Since we had 15 people, my studio area was quickly transformed into an extra dining area.

I knew having a table for a desk would come in handy eventually!

Just as I was finishing up my decorating, a little package arrived from Germany.  Imagine

my delight when I discovered these beautiful ornaments from one of my dearest friends, Juliette.  We met online

and then last year met in person.  I love that the internet has helped me find kindred spirits like Juliette!  She has

a really inspiring blog where she posts lots of DIYs, so be sure to pop over there for some really great tips and ideas!

At the last minute I decided to make my guests these little bags filled with Pebernødder.  They are one of our favorite

Danish cookies that come out only at Christmas time.

The only thing I could compare them to would be gingerbread, but they are not quite the same.  The best part is that

almost every shop, office, club, and home has a basket of them sitting out starting December 1st, so there are

plenty of opportunities to get your pebernødder fix before they are gone for another year!

I also needed a gift for a little gift game we played, so I baked a fresh batch of peanut butter cookies.

I think they went home to a very appreciative friend who promised not to waste a single bite!

What about you?  Have you been hosting or attending many Christmas parties this year?  What

are some of your favorite tips or tricks for the perfect holiday party?

Hey Tina. I love that you made your gift..foody treats are always a winner! And those Danish cookies sound delish. It’s quite nice that they’re only around at this time of the year..makes them more special and something to look forward to for the rest of the year!

We threw one here at out house last weekend, but other than that we are skipping most of the parties this year to head to Utah to go skiing.
