It is summertime in Scandinavia and that means time to escape to the beach. If you really want to experience a special area, check out the northwestern coast of Zealand, Denmark’s largest island, outside the city of Tisvilde. It is tucked away from all the city hustle and bustle and since not many know about it you might just enjoy a private beach experience in a little paradise!
I always feel a little sad when someone visits the city of Copenhagen, but never gets to visit this side of Denmark because it is so special! There are a few places that can be reached by train, but most of this area is most easily accessed by car, which is why when you visit these beaches they will mostly be full of locals.
If you have the time to stay and explore outside of Copenhagen, renting a car and a beautiful summer house is a great way to truly unplug and enjoy the quieter side of Scandinavia. We recommend renting a vehicle at the airport, but make sure to show them your foreign ID because it will guarantee you a rate about half of what the locals will pay!
And don’t forget your sunscreen! The air is so clean up here in Scandinavia and despite the coolness of the air, you might be surprised how quickly your skin will burn!
