Close your eyes with me for just a moment and let’s play a little game. Imagine that you are free to dream of the perfect space to create in. Money is no issue and there are no limitations to what is possible. No peeking! Now, picture in your mind what it would look like. Would it be soft and airy or funky and modern? What color would the walls be? Would everything have a place and your work space would be neat and tidy? Maybe you would be more free spirited and messy because you work better outside order. Or maybe you are not sure. Perhaps you have thought about it but could never commit to anything. Have you wondered if you are worth the effort?
Okay, you can open your eyes now, which will be very convenient if you have been reading along!
This new series at Travelingmama is perfect for you whether you already have your dream space to create in or if you still feel completely unsure of where to even begin!
Ever since this post I have been thinking more and more about this idea. I don’t know about you but when I see a house tour online I look forward to seeing the studio the most! (I like seeing the kitchen too, but we’ll save that for another day!) There is just something about seeing someone’s special place where the “magic” happens. It’s like I have this secret hope deep inside that somehow creativity is contagious and I will catch a little by standing back and paying attention to what others are doing!
I started looking for studios and craft rooms that were inspiring and I found so many that I thought I would begin sharing them here! Each week I will post photos of someone’s studio or craft space and I might even throw in some organizational tips and such… just to keep things interesting! I am excited about being inspired and also realizing my dream of creating a space that feels alive and moves me in new ways!
Well, I don’t know about you, but I am ready to see our first room so let’s get started!
Paula Mills, is a lovely artist and her works are so inspiring! With a space like this who wouldn’t be inspired, right? I love her mix of colors and textures, old and new!
And I adore her pin board! What a wonderful peek into her favorites! I would like to include more of her free spirit into my creative space. I need to think more outside the box and find inspiration from the little things that surround my daily life… or maybe add a bit to that inspiration… (Did you all hear me reasoning a shopping trip?? HeeHee!)
Paula calls this “randomness” on her desk. Doesn’t it make you just want to sit down and stay a while and see more randomness?
Here is a closer look at her desk. I’m like this too- I store all my pens, pencils and such in random jars, tins, or whatever I can find!
Look at these adorable tags Paula made! Aren’t they just so great?
What about you? What do you find inspiring from Paula’s space and her work?
I am still on the hunt for more inspiration! If you would like to submit your room or a link to one that you love please e-mail me at email@example.com
Hope you all have a happy Monday!
