Jack and I woke up that morning so excited.  The kids thought we were heading back to Atlanta after a few days visiting with family in Indian Shores, Florida, but we knew our real destination.  After months of planning, saving, and dreaming we were taking the whole family on an amazing week long vacation to Walt Disney World.  We didn’t tell them where we were really heading until the Disney entrance was in sight.  Their faces say it all, don’t you think?  It was definitely one of those moments when being a parent feels like the best thing in the entire world.

We thought it would be fun to take this entire week to chat about the ultimate family Disney vacation.  So, grab your Mickey  ears ’cause we’re going to Disney World!

Our first big decision was where to stay.  There are countless options, both on and off property to stay at, but this time we decided to base ourselves out of the Disney Beach Club, which is themed after a turn of the century New England Inn.

One of the best things about the Beach Club is it’s location, a very easy 5 minute walk to the International Gateway entrance to Epcot.  It’s also just a brief boat ride to Hollywood Studios.  The resort is located on Crescent Lake and is actually only half of the larger Yacht and Beach Club Complex.  Across from the Beach Club is the Boardwalk with multiple restaurants and nighttime street performers.

The resort itself is a perfect bend of luxury, affordability, and comfort, which was just right for our family of five and the perfect place for us to unpack and begin our epic family Disney vacation.  From the moment we arrived we were greeted by name and escorted inside for a very brief check in process. The grounds were lush with a tropical feel and every spot seemed to either look out over the expansive 3 acre Stormalong Bay pool or the beautiful Crescent Lake.

The rooms are meant to be enjoyed by the entire family with minor theming for the kids and enough elegance for mom and dad to feel comfortable and pampered, too.  We loved being greeted by Mickey shaped towels and a great view of peaceful green space (away from the noise of the pool so we could all get a good night’s sleep!)

The hotel is truly family friendly, offering great eats at Hurricane Hannah’s poolside Bar and Grill, the popular Beaches and Cream Soda Bar, and the Cape May Cafe which offers a great character breakfast which the kids (and Jack) greatly enjoyed.  There’s also an arcade for the kids (and Jack), boat rentals, nightly beachside movies and children’s activities throughout the day.  And did I mention the three acre sandy bottom pool?  We loved this resort because it offered a great balance of being really close to the theme parks but with the space to come back and relax after a busy day.  You get to stay in the middle of so much activity but you never feel rushed or overwhelmed.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort?  A definite yes for us!

Love that place – we stayed there too. Huge flight from Australia – arrived at LA around 10.30pm then drove down. Despite being had it – we had to eat at midnight when we arrived as M and I had flown for 15 hours w/o eating as the airline did not cater for coeliacs – and I had stupidly left out food on a ledge at the terminal when we left #@#@##@. Finally fell asleep around 2am and then was woken up by a v excited M at 5.30am – who had showered and dressed to then tell us we HAD to get up or we’d miss the going through first. Good thing I am a morning gal. I took him to a v early bfast and B joined us just as the gates opened – we came back in after lunch for a much needed nap then headed back out. I retired around 8pm that night shattered – those boys of mine were still on rides at midnight!!! They still talk about what a blast that was!

wow! That is crazy!! And I know what you mean about leaving the food. I used to think I could find something milk free and even ordered meals that were suppose to be dairy free and came with butter and cheese!! I’ve gone hungry on a few trips and have since become better about it. SO, SO glad you guys ended up having such an amazing time! I love that!!
