The Evening Stroll …

This is our last week here in Copenhagen before we jet set off for our six month adventure and despite the fact that we are working into the wee hours of the night and waking up early just to get everything wrapped up here, we found a few minutes over the weekend to go for an evening walk with the kids just after a late afternoon shower had come through.  We have always had a particular affection for evening walks and no matter what city, state, or country we have found ourselves in, we have always squeezed in room for this little ritual.  I don’t really know what it is that makes it so special… perhaps the cool night air, the sun cresting behind the horizon, or the sleep that comes so easily afterwards… but whatever it is, we find them therapeutic amidst our lives that at times feel a bit too chaotic.

I wonder if any of you have the same evening ritual?  What does an evening stroll through your neighborhood look like?  The scenery has certainly changed quite a bit for ours, and it is about to change again, but I think it is so nice to have a habit that can be replicated no matter where life takes us.

Here is just a little peek from our hood to yours…

For me that will be evening walk on our Ijburg island. It feels a little bit separated from all of Amsterdam, but the vibe there is priceless. And also i love to stand on the balcony and hold my cat in hands:)

We love strolls: evening, morning, weekend strolls, you name it. It’s a great way of exercising without noticing it and it gives us a peaceful moment just for us.
Good luck with this last week in Denmark!

I go for a walk every day too. often in the evening, but not always. it’s almost meditative for me. it let’s me unwind and digest the day. I usually go alone. and particularly after stressful days it almost turns into a bit of a workout that lets me relax.

Lovely photos, Tina! I’ve just left Copenhagen, but my boyfriend and I enjoyed an evening stroll through Frederiksberg last night after the Sankt Hans bonfire.
I love how there are beautiful houses so close to the city centre, and the floral scent in the air from the gardens.
