When you hear Boutique Hotel, your next thought may be “expensive” but this Hotel Alternative in Amsterdam is a Boutique guest house that won’t break the bank.  At a rate of 210 euros/night, guests can choose from one of two rooms that are so well designed that you may not ever want to go home!

Maison Rika is the work of Ulrika Lundgren, the Dutch founder and creative director of Rika Magazine, a magazine publication that is both trendy and edgy (as in super cool and highly recommended!)  Located in the much sought after “The Nine Streets” district, guests literally have the city’s best shopping, cafes, and canal walks just outside their door.  Rooms come equipped with coffee/tea, the latest issue of Rika Magazine, and a signature bag, which will come in very handy for taking home goodies from the Rika Boutique!

We think this is the perfect place to escape to… perhaps even for a little weekend trip?

Do you get away much on the weekends?  I know it can be hard but we have been chatting more about just grabbing a quick flight somewhere and just going!  What are your top picks for weekend trips?

Hi, wonderful post, thank you for sharing. Great timing – we just came back from a week end in Amsterdam and stayed at Ambassade (also a boutique hotel). I am saving Maison Rika for next time, looks amazing. I also like your idea of short getaways – sometimes best vacation 🙂 – takes your mind off of things and recharges. Plus I always walk so much in short time – I end up seeing more than in a week 🙂 Have a great week end and Happy Mothers day!
