Please tell me that I am not the only one who looked at this first image and immediately wondered out loud, “That’s Ikea?? No way. No way! That’s amazing!!” A second glance, a squint and a lean into the screen for closer inspection, and, yes, indeed, these images of full of Ikea products. Anyone else feel like jumping up and down at this revelation? Either that, or I might raise my fist and yell at the heavens, “Dang them!” I SO wanted to hate Ikea forever and ever and then they went and made so little look like SO much!
This is proof, absolute and unwavering proof, that budget does not dictate style. You can do a lot with a little. I’m a firm believer in that. Seriously, my friends, don’t let anyone tell you that you need a million bucks to have a space that looks like it.
If you haven’t scrolled back up and tried to dissect what and how they have accomplished this great feat at least three times, then let me recommend it because they are being a bit sneaky. First, notice the floors. They are worn and immediately add warmth and age to pieces that generally look new and glossy. They’ve painted the walls with a textured paint (does anyone know what kind of paint that is because it is brilliant!). The DIY art Display that many of you loved is being used with a twist in this space, too.
If you look again, you might notice that there are non-Ikea pieces present that look older, distressed, and a little wild. (An encouragement to all of those who no longer have the brand-spanking-new, I-just-arrived-on-this-planet look.)
It’s brilliant on so many levels, and the perfect color tones for a little fall home infusion (and a definite escape from adding pumpkins and scarecrows to every surface… not that I have ever been known to do that myself. Ahem. Cough. Cough. Did the room just get smaller? ok! Guilty as charged!)
I wasn’t planning a trip to Ikea, but maybe we need to meet there for some meatballs and cinnamon rolls?… and a little shopping, of course!
