I was in need of a pair of trousers, or pants as we call them in the States usually, that would not fall down without the use of a very tight belt. It seems that my gym time is finally starting to pay off and with those last few pounds shedding off, it was time to consider ridding my wardrobe of those “comfy” pants that I could so easily slip back into should I decide to become less religious in my gym attendance… ummm, yeah, and start eating all my favorite junk food again…
But who wants to talk about diets when we could talk about the new boyfriend jeans I found at Mango? I knew I might be on to something when my husband finally put down his iPhone. I put together an outfit to show him the potential of these jeans because I think it helps to try an entire outfit on rather than one new piece and whatever I happened to have on that day… oh, yeah, and it’s just fun to try on new stuff! I especially liked the faux ripped patches, which are actually sewn on so they won’t be tearing off anytime soon.
Not only did he like the jeans, but the top and sweater were winners too and he insisted that I buy the outfit. I smiled and did not protest, though I am feeling an itsy teensy bit guilty for luring him into buying me a whole new outfit… but just a teensy tiny bit… (said with the naughty smile of a girl who makes sport of charming her adorable husband.) I added the necklace that my sister sent me a couple months ago. When we were together in the States I had seen it at JCrew and wanted it so, so much, but with more than 10 suitcases to come back with I had to say no at some point, right? So, she surprised me with it in a package after we got back to cheer me up after having to leave everyone again. My big sister is the BEST! (You might remember the earrings from here.)
So, now I have a complete outfit, and I must admit that it feels terribly good, even if it does not include a pair of trousers, which is exactly what I was intending on buying. On the way home, I thanked my guy for being so generous and understanding. He has let me basically flip my wardrobe from two sizes bigger and baggy for Morocco to a newer, slightly chic city-kinda wardrobe. It’s not exactly Sex in the City, but I feel like a modern, city dwelling mom now and that is pretty awesome.
I am learning to take more risks… like *gasp* rolling the bottoms of my jeans. It is quite in style here, you know. Is it fashionable where you live too? The sloppy bun and mint green toes are my own personal additions!
