I have been working on a mini makeover in our bathroom because I have not done much except organize since we moved in. I debated painting the walls but after looking at my pinterest board, I realized that I love a clean and white bathroom, so my husband got us started by hanging the chandelier which we have been moving from one house to the next the last few years.
We installed these gorgeous leather handles from NU Interieur, which are practical because we were tired of constantly prying the doors and drawers open plus they are so classy and pretty. (We got permission from our landlord before installing them.)
I wanted to create a feeling of simplified luxury and started in this corner with a piece of artwork which I painted myself a while ago.
Then I brought in some of our collected items from our travels, including handmade soaps from Switzerland set on an olive wood soap dish from Greece, rocks from our last trip to the beach in Tisvilde set in a candle holder from Sweden, plus a white handmade tea candle holder that I purchased from the sweetest little lady in Austria who didn’t even have a card for her shop.
On this side I added a gorgeous orchid for a little femininity plus more collected items and another piece of art I painted.
One of my most prized possessions, the plate that my grandmother gave me from her trip to Turkey long before I was born, sits with jars of practical things like cotton pads, prettied up by placing them in vintage Planter’s Peanuts Jars.
Now back over to the other side of the bathroom and to one of my favorite little places…
I used a vintage trey to corral some of my daily essentials together which helps keep things tidy and looks pretty, too.
There is a place for practical things like toothpaste on a trey my husband bought from Romania back in the 90′s (and art work strategically placed to hide the kids’ electric toothbrush.)
I hope you have enjoyed the little tour. As in most of my mini makeovers, I simply scavenged my house for things that were put away, like our plates, and used them in a way I just had not thought of before. Pop over here if you would like to see a before shot of the bathroom.
Thank you to NU Interieur for the amazing handles. They are offering our Flying House readers a 10% discount on all handle orders until 10-10-13 with the code: FLYINGHOUSE13
