Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge: {four}

in Stamping

Cool, serene, timeless, inviting…. those were just a few words that popped into my head when I saw this photo from Savitri.  I don’t know about you all, but it made me want to jump on an airplane and head straight to Rothenburg, Germany!  It is my dream to live in Europe again and looking at this photo just makes me want to shout out, “Yes!!  That’s what I’m talking about!”

There is something so special about Europe in general.  The atmosphere is generally more family oriented and there is a deep national pride in their language and customs.  They are confident, self assured, and why shouldn’t they be?  This is the kind of place that makes me want to settle down, buy a bike with a little basket on the front, and bohemian style skirts.  I would buy flowers for my window box for the Spring and display candles at Christmas.  The door would be the perfect backdrop to a fresh evergreen wreath that would remind visitors with it’s glorious fragrant that this home is about life and love, timelessness and history, family and friends.  Oh, yes!  One can dream of having such a door as this!

As I thought about what inspired me from Savitri’s photo, I knew the colors were going to be the focal point of my project.  The door alone could inspire countless projects, don’t you think? I created this page because I couldn’t resist documenting my son’s love for cars.

The journaling reads, “Even before he could crawl, Parker loved cars…Sometimes I just sit and listen to him ‘vrooom!’  Oh, the places one may go with a little imagination!”  Just to prove my point he sat at my feet while I wrote this post “vrooming” his cars over my toes and across the floor.

I adore the card Savitri made!  Can you see why I was so excited to feature her this week?  She amazes me with her talent and is a constant inspiration to me!

So, now it is your turn!  Here is how to play along:

Who: Anyone with the slightest hankering for creativity can participate.  You also must have a blog or online gallery, such as Splitcoaststampers, Flickr, or Twopeasinabucket where you can post your projects.

What: Use the inspiration photo to inspire your own project.  It is totally up to you how you interpret the inspiration photo.  Whether it’s a card, a scrapbook page, a photo, a sewing project, a painting…

Post a photo of your project along with a description of what inspired you from the inspiration photo.  Come back to Travelingmama and post a direct link to your blog post on Mr. Linky.

When: I will post a new photo every Friday through the end of summer here at Travelingmama.  You will have one week to complete the challenge!  Yeah!

Where: You can also post the inspiration photo on your blog to show your readers what inspired your project!

If you need more clarification you can check this post or e-mail me!  Also, as a separate request I am still looking for more inspiration photos!  E-mail them to me at and tell me about your photo.  If it is accepted I will request a project from you so you too can be highlighted here on our Traveler’s Inspiration Challenge!

Ok, NO MORE will I put this off! Tina! I need to know where you got that red car! The paper is Cosmo Cricket, right? Girl…My son is the exact same way! I kid you not. Just in the last month he has been completely obsessive over “Caaaaahh(r)s” as he puts it. 🙂 He sleeps with them, bathes with them, washes his hands with them, EATS with them! Lol… I just about shouted when I saw your amazing layout! (wish I could just insert a pic of my little man in it!…lol)

And the photo… This is why I stalk Savitri Wilder! lol… isn’t she amazing? I love her eye for design… And then “listening” to you describe the life that you would live if you were in Germany was so nostalgic for me! I am half German, and I grew up taking summer and winter trips there. I sometimes feel as though I am being cheated by living in suburban America! Know what I mean? Well, maybe not! lol… Anyway, I remember the tea times, and the cakes and the rain, and the aroma of coffee, and the cool basements full of jams and wine and… *deep sigh*

Thank you for this post. The two of you in one post is a priceless moment! There is so much talent between you ladies…it’s so great to “know” you. 🙂

Hi Tina – I’ve been following your blog for 2 weeks or so after stumbling upon it through a few other blogs (and I’m so glad I did). What a wonderful pic. The door completely grabbed me too. 🙂 And I totally agree about Europe – what a wonderful place. I have been a few times, but my last trips have been b/c of work, so it’s not the same as visiting for fun. I’d love to go back and visit again with my kiddos. Loved your inspired scrapbook page – boys and their cars. I have 3 boys (so I also love seeing boy pages) and we have more cars that I know what to do with them! Have a great weekend and thanks again for a fun challenge.

What yummy colors and your projects are wonderful. I hope to be able to play along, but I’ll be on the road for almost two weeks. I feel funny leaving my craft area, like I’m abandoning a pet or something :-). Have a great day!
